I think that my brain is definitely on overload with this one. How can anybody write such compelling and romantic books? The heroes and heroines both are so strong and intelligent but with enough flaws to make them human and me truly fall in love with them. The story line in this series is absolutely one that has me hooked.

I keep trying with this series. The books are okay, I want to love them but I just don't. I think this might be the last one I read.
Christin Feehan is a wonderful author. Her "Game" series is very imaginative and the suspense keeps you reading long after you planned to stop. If you haven't read any of the earlier books in the series, it would be helpful if you looked for earlier ones before reading this one. At least read #4 - "Conspiracy Game", which is about Jack Norton, the twin brother of the hero of "Deadly Game", Ken Norton. I don't like reading books out of order, so I would recommend you begin with the first book in the series, "Night Game" and then go on to "Mind Game" and "Shadow Game" before reading the last two. The earlier books provide background information on the Ghostwalkers and help explain how they can do the things they do. Feehan is very adept at keeping your interest, and unlike other long series, I've never been bored or felt that she should end it. One of the most different and unusual paranormals I've ever read. Great romances and lots of steamy sex as well.
THE STORY Ken Norton is a GhostWalker, one of the genetically enhanced psychic soldiers. Ken and his twin brother Jack are a sniper team. Ken was horribly disfigured when he was captured in South America. Although for most of their lives, Ken was the easygoing twin, his torture has ripped off his mask and Ken fears that he is becoming a monster. Ken and his brother are searching for Jack's wife's twin sister who has been kept under the control of Dr. Whitney. When Ken and Marigold Smith meet, they worlds are turned around. Mari has been trained as a soldier since childhood. When Whitney begins pairing the women GhostWalkers with men to be used as breeding experiments, the women decide to escape. Mari doesn't trust Ken in spite of or because of their attraction, but the two are forced into close connection which challenges both Mari and Ken.

OPINION This was a difficult book for me to get engrossed in because the main characters are incredibly closed off. As they begin to open up to one another, however, I became transfixed by the story and couldn't put the book down. These are dark characters with sad pasts and a lonely present. I loved how they manage to find joy with one another even as they are guarded and afraid of the effect they have on one another. The overarching story and conspiracy is further revealed and a big disclosure is presented for longtime readers. There is definite progress being made on the overall story. Fans of CONSPIRACY GAME will be pleased to get what amounts to a partner book as Jack and Briony get important roles here and this book feels like a true resolution of CONSPIRACY GAME.

FINAL DECISION This book was a little difficult for me to get into because of the hardness of the characters. However, as the characters reveal themselves to one another, I became more interested in the story and finally really loved the book.

CONNECTED BOOKS DEADLY GAME is the fifth book in the GhostWalkers series and is most closely connected with CONSPIRACY GAME.

Christine Feehan is one of my favorite authors and her game series is my favorite. You can not go wrong reading anything that she wrote.
Mari and Ken's story made me laugh and cry. It was such an emotional ride. I really enjoyed this book as well as Jack and Briony's story. Looking forward to your next one.
This is my 5th Ghostwalker novel but not my favorite. There was a lot of graphic violent control issues through out & a lot of repetitive statements that got really boring after a while. I have enjoyed the Ghostwalker series but I think I will take a break from them. If I read another & it is like this one I will be done with them.
The story between Ken and Marigold is heartbreaking. They both have such terrible pasts, so many demons riding them. But somehow they have common ground. This story is full of action and passion. We get to see more of the villain and how truely evil he is. A great addition to the series, a must read!
